Civil Rights Group Strikes Chord
With a legislative fight brewing on Capitol Hill, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights hired New Media Mill to tell the story of a victim of discrimination.
"Meet Judy Jones," is the beginning line of this news report created for a coalition of civil rights groups fighting for legislation to restore rights eroded federal judges.
The 60-year-old Metro employee won an age discrimination case after she was passed over for a promotion. But Jones lost on appeal because a federal court rules that government employees are not protected against age discrimination.
This piece, created in just two days on a budget of less than $2500, was shown to legislators on Capitol Hill. The clip was also showcased on www.civilrights.org, the official site of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights. And, it appeared on a public education compact disc created by New Media Mill.
