Database Utilities

Imagine a website where you can learn how your car rates in crash tests. What if there was an on-line community of thousands of vehicle owners who shared their pet peeves? Imagine if all the government's automobile recalls and investigations were available at your fingertips.

This resource exists at Center for Auto Safety and assembles all of this information in a single "dossier" for thousands of consumers every day on the home page of www.autosafety.org.

It is the latest in a long string of custom database utilities built by New Media Mill for organizations that have mountains of information, and need a single interface to share it with the public.

The Death Penalty Information Center had a similar challenge: details on executions since the Supreme Court allowed them again in 1976. The result: New Media Mill's "Execution Database" at www.deathpenaltyinfo.org.

As always, New Media Mill constructed the database with open source tools including MYSQL and PHP. That means in the future, our clients can turn to any competent programmer to modify and add to this module. No one is locked into a proprietary solution. None of that will matter to users of Dossier or the Execution Database...all they want is their information, and they can get it fast.
