John Fiege
In a world crowded with aspiring filmmakers, there are a handful who stand out as talent. John Fiege is one of those few.
John Fiege is a filmmaker and freelance cameraman, editor and photographer. As a director, he works in both documentary and narrative, with a filmography that includes Bebe (2003), Casa Marianella (2003), and Chasing Paradise (2001).
His freelance work has taken him across the U.S., Latin America and Asia, with camera credits that include The Discovery Channel, A&E, and PBS.
In addition, media production for non-profit organizations is a significant part of his vita. Working with PublicWebWorks.org and the W. Alton Jones Foundation, he produced a series of short documentaries about GE's PCB-pollution of the Hudson River. These pieces, intended to encourage the EPA to force GE to clean up the river, were subsequently honored at the 2002 Media that Matters/Human Rights Watch International Film Festival.
John has also produced short documentaries for CameraOne.org on subjects such as the protests at the School of the Americas and the 2001 Presidential Inauguration. Currently, he is planning a documentary about the Bush administration's war on freedom since 9/11.
He holds a Master's degree in geography and is presently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree in film at the University of Texas in Austin.
